Searching for an effective way to prevent and improve the look of wrinkles? Look no further than Botox injections. Botox enhances and refreshes your appearance by minimizing fine lines and wrinkles.

This treatment has become the most common nonsurgical cosmetic procedure to effectively treat three areas of your face, crow’s feet (lines around the eyes), forehead lines, and glabellar lines (“11s” or frown lines).

Understanding Wrinkles and Neuromodulators

Did you know that you could have two different types of wrinkles? Dynamic wrinkles are only visible when you make a facial expression. These wrinkles disappear when the face is at rest. Static Wrinkles are deeper wrinkles and remain on the skin even when the face is at rest. Static wrinkles all start as fine dynamic wrinkles that develop into permanent lines or fold over time.

A neuromodulator is an injectable drug that relaxes and softens these wrinkles by restricting facial muscles from contracting. The effects of this can be reduced or erased wrinkles and facial contouring to provide a younger, refreshed appearance.

Jack Nathan MedSpa uses two popular neuromodulators,

  • Botox® and
  • Nuceiva™.

The benefits of neuromodulators include reduced crow’s feet and frown lines, smooth and softened fine lip lines and neck bands and the prevention of new lines and wrinkles.

What to expect during the Botox treatment?

Botox injections

Neuromodulators are administered by injection, but the syringes are tiny, causing little to no pain. During your treatment, you can expect the following:

  • Your face will be cleansed and sterilized.
  • The Practitioner will ask you to make different facial expressions to map out the muscles to be injected. They may mark their injection points during this process.
  • Each injection point will be injected with the appropriate number of units.

How long do the results of Botox last?

Typically, neurotoxins last around 3-4 months, but this varies between individuals. To ensure the best results, keeping up with your maintenance appointments is essential.

First-time Botox clients may experience shorter longevity versus regular users because, over time the muscles in the individuals in the latter group have begun to shrink and weaken with repeated injections.

How long does it take to see the results of a Botox injection?

Clients who get Botox for the first time often ask when they will start to see the difference or the result of their Botox procedure. Although it can vary from person to person, some clients may start seeing the results within 1-3 days after the injection.

Regardless of how long it takes for your Botox to start setting in, it can take up to a maximum of two weeks to see the total result.

How much Botox do I need?

  1. Key Areas:

    • The forehead is a prominent site for neurotoxin injections.
    • Various muscles in this area contribute to different facial expressions and lines.
  2. Targeted Muscles:

    • Frontalis Muscle: Produces horizontal lines on the forehead.
    • Procerus and Corrugator Muscles: Lead to vertical frown lines.
  3. Injector’s Assessment:

    • During your Botox session, the injector evaluates muscle strength and attributes to decide the appropriate dosage.
    • Personal aesthetic preferences also influence the amount of Botox. For instance, while some desire a completely static look, others might prefer some forehead movement.

What do you need to know about Botox

Reference Dosages

  • Horizontal Frown Lines: Typically require 10-30 units, contingent on muscle strength and aesthetic desires.
  • Vertical Frown Lines: Generally need 10-25 units, again depending on muscle strength and individual goals.

Botox Prices

Most Botox patients need between 35-60 units of Botox. The average price for a Botox unit is estimated between $10-$17 per unit. The price variance depends on who is administering the treatment. Botox administered by a nurse will be less than if administered by a dermatologist cosmetic surgeon, or physician.

At Jack Nathan MedSpa, we offer various treatment and service options to fit everyone’s budget and skin goals.

Can I get Botox while pregnant?

Whether using Botox for medical or cosmetic reasons, you will want to put this procedure on the back burner while pregnant. Due to the lack of study and insufficient data, this procedure is deemed unsafe to receive while expecting.

There is no evidence that neuromodulators are harmful while pregnant; there is also no evidence they’re not. When neurotoxins are injected, a minimal amount goes directly into the muscle and stays within that muscle.

Botox has very little bioavailability in the bloodstream. Suppose you are wondering when it is safe to resume. It is ideal to wait until breastfeeding is done.

Can I combine Microneedling with Botox on the same day?

It is not recommended to combine microneedling and Botox on the same day. The reason for this is that microneedling creates thousands of tiny, microscopic channels in the skin and forces the skin into “wound healing’ mode to stimulate new collagen.

You want to allow these channels in the skin time to heal properly and for the skin to return to “normal” before doing your Botox. You want to inject Botox into healthy/intact skin. You should wait approximately two weeks before having Botox injected after doing Microneedling.

Can I combine HIFU with Botox on the same day?

Botox and HIFU, or High Intense Focus Ultrasound, are treatments that address signs of aging differently. Botox relaxes the muscle so facial movement is minimized and prevents the formation of static lines.

At the same time, HIFU stimulates different layers of the skin by using three other cartridges, penetrating the SMAS layer and stimulating collagen production.

After HIFU, it is essential to wait and have the skin rested and recover before doing another treatment, including Botox. It is recommended to do Botox two weeks after HIFU facial treatment.
