Reclaiming that youthful complexion is possible with the help of LUCENT IPL. With LUCENT IPL, you can rediscover that bright, even-toned complexion and regain your love for your skin.

IPL Treatment: The Solution for a Range of Skin Conditions

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) is a laser light treatment that targets pigment issues, such as brown spots, sun damage, red spots, and rosacea. The bright light passes through the epidermis, drawing out the pigment-producing cells and dispersing the uneven pigment. IPL can be used on the face, neck, chest, shoulders, back arms, legs and just about anywhere else. It is also an effective treatment for broken veins and spider veins.

What is IPL?

IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) laser is a type of non-ablative laser that uses broad-spectrum light to target and treat various skin conditions.

IPL is a non-ablative laser, meaning it does not damage the surface of the skin. Instead, it focuses on specific chromophores within the skin, such as melanin (responsible for pigmentation) and hemoglobin (found in blood vessels), to address a wide range of concerns. These concerns include sun damage, age spots, freckles, acne, rosacea, and broken blood vessels. The light energy from the IPL laser can also stimulate collagen production, which can help improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

How does IPL work?

IPL lasers work by emitting short pulses of light that are absorbed by the pigment in the skin, such as melanin or hemoglobin. The light energy is then converted into heat, which damages the targeted cells and triggers the body’s natural healing response.

What are the steps to Lucent IPL™ treatment

What to expect during the treatment?

During an IPL laser treatment, a hand-held device is placed on the skin and delivers a series of pulses of light. The light energy penetrates the skin and is absorbed by the melanin or hemoglobin in the targeted cells. The absorbed light energy is then converted into heat, which damages or destroys the targeted cells. This process is known as selective photothermolysis. The surrounding tissues are not affected because the light energy is only absorbed by the specific pigments in the targeted cells.

Conditions that can be treated with IPL

  • Pigmentation spots from sun damage: After the treatment, the pigmented areas should darken in colour either immediately or within 24 hours. It is common for the treated spots to develop a rough, coffee-like texture, which eventually leads to flaking off within approximately 10-14 days. For optimal results, a series of 3-6 treatments is typically recommended. To maintain progress and protect the skin, it is essential to apply sunscreen every day.
  • Vascular/vessels: Targeting small spider veins can be treated but not verrucose veins. When vessels are treated it causes the vein to collapse and disappear. Sometimes small vessels will collapse immediately while others may take longer. A series of 3-6 treatments is normally the case and is done every 2 to 4 weeks apart. Some redness in the area is normal and the treatment is very tolerable.

Skin Rejuvenation: This treatment stimulates the fibroblasts in the dermal layers of the skin to produce new collagen to improve the tightness, texture, and tone of the skin. It can help to soften the appearance of fine lines and light pigmentation. A series of 3-6 treatments is normal and done every 4 weeks.

  • Acne: Acne is treated with a blue light called Photodynamic Light Therapy and produces very good results combined with topical products. This treatment is easily tolerated and is done once per week for a series of 6-10 treatments. Grades I-III acne can be treated.
  • Rosacea or flushing: Rosacea of the skin is a treatment that IPL can help to manage by reducing the inflammation of the small vessels of the skin and calming the redness down. This condition cannot be cured, only managed with treatments and topical products. Treatments are normally 3-6 and done weekly to every 2 weeks.

IPL Treatment Time, Tolerance, and Frequency

How does Lucent IPL™ work

How is IPL tolerated?

The treatment is typically painless, although some patients may experience a mild sensation of heat or discomfort. After the treatment, the skin may appear slightly red or swollen, but these side effects typically subside within a few hours to a few days.

It’s important to note that IPL laser treatments should only be performed by a licensed and trained medical professional, as improper use of the laser can result in skin damage or injury.

How fast will I see results after the IPL?

Following your treatment, brown spots will darken, and the skin may appear red for 3-24 hours. Your improved complexion should be visible 1-3 weeks post-treatment. The results include a luminous even complexion, improved tone and texture, fine line and wrinkle reduction, and a youthful healthy glow.

How many IPL treatments do I need?

For best results, typically require a series of 3-6 treatments spaced 1 month apart.

Who can receive IPL Treatments?

Optimal results are typically achieved with individuals who have fine, dark hair and lighter skin tones when it comes to IPL treatment. If you desire a treatment that offers minimal downtime, IPL may be the ideal choice for you. However, it’s important to note that experts generally discourage the use of IPL machines on darker skin tones due to the potential risks of damage and discoloration. Similarly, individuals with light blonde or red hair are advised to refrain from undergoing this treatment.
